American High School’s elementary students had an unforgettable hands-on learning experience at Family Farms, where they explored the wonders of farm life and agriculture. The young learners engaged in a variety of exciting activities, including riding ponies, feeding goats, chickens, and pigs, and harvesting some of Florida’s finest strawberries.
The field trip provided students with a unique opportunity to understand the daily operations of a farm and the importance of caring for animals. They interacted closely with the friendly farm animals, learning about their habitats, diets, and the responsibilities involved in raising them.
One of the highlights of the day was strawberry picking. The students eagerly filled their baskets with fresh, ripe strawberries, gaining an appreciation for the work that goes into growing and harvesting produce. They also learned about the nutritional benefits of fresh fruits and the role farms play in providing food for communities.
“This trip was a fantastic way to connect our students with nature and give them hands-on experience in agriculture,” said one of the teachers accompanying the group. “Seeing their excitement as they picked strawberries and fed the animals was truly rewarding.”
The visit to Family Farms was not only educational but also a joyful and enriching experience that reinforced the value of farming and the connection between nature and the food we eat. American High School continues to provide students with immersive learning opportunities that foster curiosity and a deeper understanding of the world around them.
